I first learned about CNET and Sprint's Palm Pre test drive through Andrew Mager on Twitter. Figuring it would be incredibly awesome to win the phone and three months of service, I entered the contest, answering several questions about my experience with social networks and blogging, clicked submit, and for the most part, forgot about it. Needless to say, I won and here I am! I will spend the next few weeks using the phone as my main device and comparing it to other smartphones I have used in the past. I have been a fulltime iPhone 3G user for the past year or so, and think it will be exciting to compare it with the Pre.
LGLG is going into Mobile World Congress with five new phones that it revealed just this month alone: The G Pro 2, the G2 Mini, the L90, the L70, and the L40, iphone 7 iridescent naked tough case Barcelona will give us the chance to see those handsets in person for the first time, plus anything else new that LG brings, Who else will have toys..and who won't?Huawei will have a press conference on Sunday where it could reveal a smartwatch, and Motorola will hold a presser Tuesday night, Moto promises only an "update on the business" (so, no new phones), Throughout the week, we'll also see new devices from ZTE, hear more about Mozilla's Firefox OS, and peruse the wares from YotaPhone and a host of Chinese vendors aggressively trying to grab the global spotlight, As for HTC, though, we'll have to wait until March 25 to see the successor to the HTC One (for now, called the HTC One 2)..
The format of the initial open house was another red flag. Instead of hearing a formal presentation about the antennas, she says, attendees were invited by OnAir reps to ask questions. One rep did talk about the benefits of 5G, which should begin to arrive around the country in 2019. But to Schroeder, none of the information presented was helpful or accessible. A map showing the strength of Verizon's coverage in the area also made no sense. "I just didn't like it, that's the wrong way to do community outreach," she says. "I didn't know what to ask, and they didn't tell me anything, but they expected me to ask questions."Verizon spokeswoman Heidi Flato says the carrier is committed to engaging with Oakmore residents. "While the City of Oakland doesn't have a community meeting requirement for small-cell permitting, we believe it's important to inform residents about our small-cell plan and hear their concerns," she says. "We sent notices two weeks in advance of our meeting and had subject matter experts on hand to answer questions."Verizon has proposed an antenna for this utility pole across the street from Schroeder's home.
Global shipments of tablets -- which DisplaySearch calls "tablet PCs" -- declined year to year for the first time in the first quarter of 2014, DisplaySearch said on Wednesday, The research firm did not break out specific year-to-year numbers, however, "Competition between 5.5 [inch] and larger smartphones and 7 - 7.9 [inch] iphone 7 iridescent naked tough case tablet PCs will reduce demand for tablet PCs through 2018," said Hisakazu Torii, a DisplaySearch analyst in a statement, The "unit share" for tablets between 7 and 7.9 inches peaked at 58 percent in 2013, but "will gradually decline in 2014 and beyond," Torii said..
CNET también está disponible en español. Don't show this again. These kinds of stories (of which there are way too many to count) are not encouraging for forward sales of Android tablets like the Motorola Xoom, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, the Lenovo ThinkPad tablet, or the Acer Iconia, among others. The 100,000 apps mark headline especially stings. But wait. Dig a little more and this recent headline pops up: iPad share of tablet shipments fell in second quarter, says report. The story continues. "For the second quarter of the year, Apple grabbed 61 percent of the global tablet business, shipping a record 9.3 million iOS-based tablets. Though still a healthy chunk, that number was down from the 94 percent share the company scooped up a year ago.".
