The site’s creators thanked the community for its “support, volunteer efforts, and donations,” and it’s difficult to read and to think back on how hopeful everyone was in 2012 that LaMar would turn up safe and sound. “Your efforts are KEEPING HOPE ALIVE for Sierra’s safe return to her loved ones who are waiting with open arms & hearts,” her family wrote to any and all visitors who found their way to the website. In a section called “Get to know Sierra,” her family shared a portfolio of photographs of Sierra – as a little girl holding a flower and riding a merry-go-round, and as a selfie-loving teenager with the brightest of smiles that light up the frame.

The cast of eight turns in pleasingly solid performances in multiple roles. Becky Doyle is particularly funny as the infuriatingly judgmental busybody Sister Butterworth, and Kate Metroka is humorously hyper as a selfie-obsessed waitress. Salim Razawi is an amusingly bewildered Ukrainian who speaks no English and the catty but affectionate restaurant manager, and Peter Marietta does double duty as Oxana’s foul-mouthed husband and Liz’s sullen co-worker. On the whole Altarena’s “Book of Liz” is a mildly amusing comedy with a lot of promisingly absurd situations that seem as if they’re leading up to more rewarding payoffs than are actually in store. Much like Sister Donderstock herself, it’s an endearingly modest show that doesn’t aspire to much but goes on a pleasantly strange little adventure nonetheless.
