Hyman met her husband, the late Bern Hyman, at a dance in 1953. He was just home from the Korean War and serving in the Marine Corps Reserve. They married that April and moved to Pacifica six months later. Bern would later serve the city of Pacifica in the police reserves. He was a 50+ year member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and commuted to work riding a motorcycle. Settling in Linda Mar, Hyman and her husband raised three sons.
