Sketching group meets Mondays in Brentwood. BRENTWOOD — Artists are invited to attend an informal weekly figure sketching group hosted by local artist Big Al Lopez. The exhibit was created by the Chinese Historical and Cultural Project and is an extension of the Chinese American Historical Museum in San Jose’s History Park. An opening reception will be held July 13 at 2 p.m. at 20450 Saratoga-Los Gatos Road, with appearances by the mayor, historian Connie Young Yu and Brenda Wong, president of the Chinese Historical Cultural Project. There will be a performance of zither music by Hong Tai and the Tamkang drum team, which is part of the Tamkang University Alumni Association and combines Chinese dance, kung fu and tai chi with the art of drumming. Light refreshments will be served.
